SwindlerBuster Face Search: What It Really Does and a Free Way to Check a Photo

SwindlerBuster face search is not a face recognition engine of its own. SwindlerBuster is a dating-profile lookup and guide site, and according to reviews and comparison sites, photo searches started there are passed to a partner service, reportedly Social Catfish, which charges to show full results. If you want to check a face before paying anyone, FaceCheck.ID runs its own face search: a free search shows every matching face thumbnail with its score, and credits unlock the links to the source pages.

  • SwindlerBuster's homepage, read in October 2026, offers a dating-app search by name or phone number, with no photo upload on the page.
  • Photo searches, by reviewers' accounts, end up at Social Catfish, a paid people-search subscription.
  • For a photo of a match, use a face search engine that shows results before you pay, then open the source pages yourself.

What SwindlerBuster face search actually is

SwindlerBuster's blog has described a face search for a while. A February 2025 post on reverse image searching Tinder tells you to upload your image and "click the Face button", and a June 2024 comparison post priced its reverse image search at $4 ("SwindlerBuster will show you it for only $4"). Neither page explains where the matches come from.

The homepage tells a narrower story today. It says SwindlerBuster "helps you search for possible dating app profiles using a name or phone number", and the button reads Search Dating Apps. When we read it in October 2026, it offered no photo upload at all.

Then there is the site's top-ranking guide, How to Find a Tinder Profile Using Social Catfish, dated March 2025. It walks you through creating a Social Catfish account, says the phone search needs a paid plan it lists at $6.48 for three days, and sends you to "the sixth icon on Social Catfish" for image search. We found no affiliate disclosure on the page. When a site's best-known face search guide is a sign-up tutorial for another company, that tells you where the searching happens.

The funnel, step by step

Reviewers who tried the photo route describe the same sequence:

  1. You upload a photo or start a search on SwindlerBuster.
  2. The query is handed to Social Catfish, or you are sent there to sign up.
  3. Full results sit behind a Social Catfish payment.

Referral sites are legal and common in people search; they earn a commission for sending you to a vendor. The catch is disclosure. Someone who clicks a face search button expects that site's results, not a subscription page for a different company with its own prices and cancellation terms. Our Social Catfish review covers what that service finds by photo and how its plans work.

Is SwindlerBuster legit? What reviewers say

People searching "swindlerbuster face search reddit" want unfiltered opinions, so here is what the written reviews say, and who wrote them.

On Vocal, Eleanor Gerario wrote that she uploaded a photo and was redirected to Social Catfish, and called SwindlerBuster "just an affiliate marketing funnel for Social Catfish". Her review calls the site legitimate in one passage and a scam in another, and it links to Spokeo several times, so treat it as one person's experience rather than a test.

CheatScanX, which sells a dating-profile search of its own, says that "since at least mid-2025, the site redirects all image queries to Social Catfish's reverse image search engine." A competitor has an obvious reason to say so, and the page shows no screenshots of the handoff.

Our read: SwindlerBuster is a real website run as a content and referral business. None of the reviews we found describe it taking money and delivering nothing. Whether it is worth using depends on whether you are comfortable paying a third party you did not pick, for results you have not seen yet.

A free SwindlerBuster alternative: how FaceCheck.ID works

FaceCheck.ID is a face search engine with its own index of public web pages. You upload a photo of a face and it returns pages showing similar faces, each scored from 0 to 100. Your photo is not forwarded to another vendor.

  1. Screenshot your match's clearest photo: face toward the camera, eyes visible, no sunglasses. Crop out everyone else, including the friend at the wedding and the fish he is holding up.
  2. Upload it at FaceCheck.ID, agree to the terms of use and start the search.
  3. Read the thumbnails and scores. A free search shows every matching face thumbnail with its score, so you see straight away whether the face appears on public pages and how close each match is.
  4. Use credits to unlock the links to the source pages you want to open. Credits are paid for in cryptocurrency.

Search only for adults. The model is trained on adult faces, and searching for anyone under 18 is prohibited and gets the account banned.

If you are uploading someone else's photo, the privacy terms matter too. FaceCheck.ID keeps no IP logs, runs no third-party trackers, deletes search history within 24 hours and does not add your uploaded photo to its index.

What the scores mean

ScoreLabelWhat to do
90 to 100Certain matchVery likely the same face; confirm with a second detail
83 to 89Confident matchStrong lead; read the source page before concluding anything
70 to 82Uncertain matchCould be a look-alike; needs independent confirmation
50 to 69Weak matchUsually other people unless more evidence points the same way

Even a 96 means a similar face, not a confirmed identity. Look-alikes exist, and scammers reuse photos of real, innocent people. The score tells you which page to open; the page tells you who it belongs to.

Worked example: checking a dating match photo

Say you matched on Hinge with "Daniel", 54, a widowed civil engineer on a contract in Aberdeen. He is attentive, he texts at 4 a.m. your time, and his video camera has been broken since spring. His third photo shows a clear face in front of a lake. You screenshot it, crop to the face and run the search. Three outcomes are common.

The photos belong to someone else. The top thumbnails score 93 and 91. Unlocking them shows a property developer's company page and his Facebook profile, both under the name Richard, in Ohio. Daniel is using Richard's pictures.

The face has many names. The same face, scoring 85 to 90, turns up on four profiles with four names and four countries, plus a post on a scammer-report site. That is the clearest warning a face search can give.

The story holds up. The matches are a LinkedIn profile and a running-club results page, both under Daniel's name and in the city he mentioned. That is a good sign, though it does not prove the person typing to you is the man in the photos.

If the photos turn out to be Richard's, stop sending money or personal details, report the profile inside the app, and keep the screenshots. Do not message Richard to accuse him; his photos were stolen, and he is a victim too. Our guide to romance scammer photos explains where to report the account.

Red flags in the source pages

Where a match appears says as much as its score. Treat these as warnings:

  • Modeling portfolios, agency pages and stock-photo libraries, because professional photos are the easiest to steal
  • Scammer-report and romance-scam warning sites
  • Profiles where the name, age or country does not match what your match told you
  • FaceCheck.ID's red flag markers, which appear when a match sits on scam, adult, sex-offender, mugshot, most-wanted or AI-generated-face sources, or across many profiles with different names

A long-running social profile under the same name, with friends who comment and photos spread over years, points the other way. Zero matches is its own clue: the person may simply keep a low profile, or the face may be AI-generated. Paired with a camera that never works, lean toward the second.

What face search can't see: Tinder, Hinge and private profiles

FaceCheck.ID searches public web pages. It cannot look inside Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, WhatsApp or any private account, and no face search engine that respects those platforms' logins can either. So "no match" is not proof that someone has no dating profile, and a match is never a list of their apps.

A reverse image search for Tinder works sideways instead. The face search finds the person's public pages, such as an Instagram, a Reddit profile or a personal site, and those bios sometimes link to other accounts or reuse the same photos. Our guide to reverse image searching on dating sites goes through that route platform by platform.

Use it for safety, not surveillance

Upload photos of adults you have a real safety reason to check: a match before a first date, a stranger asking for money, a profile that is using your own pictures. Do not use face search to monitor a partner, find someone who has cut contact with you, or screen job applicants, tenants or borrowers. FaceCheck.ID's terms prohibit employment, credit, insurance and tenant screening. If you find your own face in the results and want it gone, the Remove My Photos form is free.

FAQ

Is SwindlerBuster face search legit or a scam?

SwindlerBuster is a real site, and none of the reviews we read describe it taking payment and delivering nothing. Reviewers do report that its photo searches get passed to Social Catfish, a paid service, with little disclosure. Treat it as a referral site: if you go ahead, you become a Social Catfish customer on Social Catfish's prices and cancellation terms.

Is SwindlerBuster face search free?

Not for full results. SwindlerBuster's own June 2024 page priced its reverse image search at $4, and reviewers say full results now sit behind a Social Catfish plan. By contrast, a free FaceCheck.ID search shows every matching face thumbnail with its score, and credits unlock the source links.

Can I search someone's Tinder profile by photo?

Not directly. Tinder has no search by photo, and its profiles sit behind the app's login, so face search engines cannot index them. What you can do is face search the photo, find the person's public profiles elsewhere, and check whether any of them link to a dating profile or use the same pictures. A site promising a direct Tinder photo lookup is claiming to see more than it can.

How do I check if my partner is on a dating app?

No search can confirm it. Face search finds public pages only, so it will not reveal a hidden Tinder or Hinge profile, and an empty result proves nothing either way. If trust is the problem, talk to your partner directly; secretly monitoring someone's accounts can break the law and rarely settles the question.

Is there a free way to search for someone by their face using a photo?

Yes. A free FaceCheck.ID search shows every matching face thumbnail and its score without payment, which tells you whether the face appears on public pages at all. Credits unlock the source-page links. Google Lens is free as well, but it matches images rather than faces.

Can Google search a person by photo?

Partly. Google Lens finds copies of the same image and visually similar pictures, which catches a stolen photo reposted unchanged. Give it a different photo of the same person and it tends to recommend jackets in a similar shade of blue. To match one face across different photos, use a face search engine.

Can ChatGPT find a person by photo?

No. ChatGPT is not a face search engine, and OpenAI restricted GPT-4's image features so it would not recognize people by their faces, as The Decoder reported in July 2023. It can describe what is in a picture, but it will not tell you who a private person is.

What is the best reverse image search tool for dating photos?

It depends on the photo. Google Lens is free and good at exact copies. PimEyes and FaceCheck.ID are face search engines that match the face across different photos; FaceCheck.ID shows its match thumbnails and scores in a free search and flags scam, mugshot and sex-offender sources. For a dating match, run a face search first and use Lens as a cross-check.

What to do next

Screenshot your match's clearest photo now, before the chat gets serious, and run it through FaceCheck.ID. Read the scores first: anything 83 or above on a page with a different name deserves an unlocked link and a careful look. If the face shows up on modeling sites or scam reports, stop replying and report the profile. If you would rather try SwindlerBuster anyway, read the checkout page closely enough to know which company you are paying.

How we checked: SwindlerBuster details come from its homepage and blog posts, read in October 2026, and from the reviews linked above. FaceCheck.ID details come from its published scoring, privacy and terms documentation.
